Flying Spur skips the W12 for a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 plug-in hybrid

Bentley has launched the latest Flying Spur globally, packing a brand new array of updates. Being the most powerful four-door setup in the brand’s history, this luxury sedan trades its preceding iconic W12 engine for an electrified powertrain, shared with the Continental GT.

New Bentley Flying Spur: Powertrain & Specs

The Bentley Flying Spur boasts a 4.0-litre twin turbo enhanced V-8 engine blended with plug-in hybrid technology, and can generate 782hp (147hp more than the W12 predecessor). It can speed up from 0 to 100 km/hr under 3.5 seconds with torque peaking at 1,000Nm. The engine transfers power through 8-speed DCT (dual-clutch automatic transmission).

The 25.9kWh battery supplies a 76km electric-only range at speeds up to 140kph and can charge completely under 3 hours with 11kW peak charging. The Flying Spur also features Bentley’s Performance Active Chassis, Bentley Dynamic Ride and all-wheel steering for enhanced dynamics.

New Bentley Flying Spur: Exterior and Interior

The Flying Spur’s exterior gets refined updates. The sedan will now feature a larger grille, revised front and rear bumpers, revamped rear diffuser, and new 22-inch alloy wheels.

The interior is adorned with new diamond quilt seat patterns, 3D diamond hide on doors, and Bentley’s Wellness 4-seating with postural adjustment and seat auto climate control. It also features a Rotating Display with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, 3 analogue dials, and handcrafted veneer options. A 10-speaker 650W sound system is the standard, with an optional 2,200W Naim system available. 

Flying Spur offers an array of customisations including tons of exterior and interior colour options and materials.

India Launch and Expected Price

The Bentley Flying Spur CBU launch in India is planned for 2025. The sedan will be priced higher than the direct predecessor. With no direct competitors, the new Flying Spur will compete with luxury sedans like Rolls Royce Ghost and Mercedes Maybach S-Class.
