Thar Roxx Scores 5-Star Rating in Bharat NCAP Safety Test

Mahindra’s Thar Roxx just raised the bar for safety, earning a top-tier 5-star rating from Bharat NCAP (BNCAP). Among Mahindra’s SUVs, including the XUV 3XO and XUV 400, the Thar Roxx stands out with the highest BNCAP score among internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles tested so far.

Thar Roxx: Safety Features

The Thar Roxx doesn’t hold back on safety — every variant is packed with protective features designed to keep passengers secure. Here’s a look:

  • Airbags: Six airbags provide extensive coverage.
  • Seatbelts: Three-point seatbelts with reminders for all passengers.
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC): Enhances vehicle control during dynamic maneuvers.
  • ISOFIX Anchors: Makes it easy to install child seats on the rear outboard seats.
  • Passenger Airbag Cut-off Switch: Lets you disable the passenger airbag when needed.

Plus, the Thar Roxx complies with AIS-100 pedestrian protection norms, a testament to Mahindra’s commitment to safety for everyone on the road.

When it comes to protecting adults, the Thar Roxx scored 31.09 out of 32 points, making it one of the top performers, just behind the Tata Punch EV. The Thar Roxx shined in:

  • Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test: 15.09 out of 16 points, indicating strong protection for the head and neck and adequate coverage for the driver’s chest and knees.
  • Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test: A perfect score of 16 out of 16, providing top-notch side-impact protection.
  • Side Pole Impact Test: Rated acceptable, meeting all necessary safety standards.

On top of that, it passed the ESC test requirements, giving it an even stronger safety edge.

Child Occupant Protection

For child passengers, the Thar Roxx did not disappoint, scoring 45 out of 49 points — the highest recorded by BNCAP. Highlights include:

  • Dynamic Test: A full score of 24/24, ensuring top-level protection during impacts.
  • Child Restraint System (CRS) Installation Test: Another perfect score (12/12), proving compatibility with child safety seats.
  • Vehicle Assessment Test: Scored 9 out of 13 points, reflecting solid design and safety features for younger passengers.

During testing, child dummies (ages 18 months and 3 years) were positioned in rearward-facing seats, secured by ISOFIX anchors and a support leg, guaranteeing solid protection.
